Berzeri

Berzeri babik · Miran tribe

Berzeri

A Kurdish family from the Kocer region of Derik in Rojava (northeast Syria), and from villages on the Iraqi side of the border. A babik (Baivk, Tîre) of the nomadic Miran tribe.

The name Berzeri comes from Berê Zer in Kurdish — “yellow stones” or “yellow lands.” Among the Miran, families and babiks (tîre) were often named after the geography of the place they usually resettled in the Zozan (summer pastures).
